Coastguard Queenstown
Is a volunteer organisation dedicated to providing a full time search and rescue unit on Lake Wakatipu and the surrounding waterways.
Our rescue vessel, kindly donated by Coastguard New Zealand, is an 8.5m Naiad Coastguard Rescue Vessell powered by a Hamilton Jet Unit. We are dedicated to giving the Queenstown community fully trained crew permanently on standby to provide assistance in our waters 24 hrs a day 365 days a year.

Every crew member aboard our Rescue Vessels and on our Air Patrols is a volunteer. A well trained seaman or pilot with professional qualifications, but always a volunteer. Without these 2500 volunteers around the country, New Zealand would have no Coastguard service.
These people provide around 240,000 hours of their time every year to make sure that our local boaties can enjoy the magnificent waterways that we have, secure in the knowledge that should anything go wrong Coastguard will be there to help.
